Sense of Pain

Do you feel that being in constant pain in a way can skew how you perceive your pain after a while?

Its hard for me to think of a way to ask the question, let me explain how it happens to me...

I will hurt and hurt and hurt. And some days it is worse than others. MOST of the time I would like to think that I know when it is a bad, high level of pain, but I push through for various reasons (work, baby, etc..) So I am suffering through and finally bite the bullet and go in because [......]
