Windows 7 Stuck on Welcome Screen?

Hey guys. Last night, Windows wanted to do an automatic update, but I postponed it because I was on Skype at the time. When I opened my laptop later today, it shut off automatically and updated. As it went to turn back on, it wouldn't get past the welcome screen. And, if I waited long enough, it would just bring me to a black screen with a cursor.

It does the same thing with safe mode, too, and I don't remember where I put my Windows
